Be an SCP or Guard SCP-457 — Burning Man Guide
Hold chokes, split Guard stacks, and win long breaches with fire pressure.
SCP-457, the Burning Man, is one of the best teaching SCPs in Be an SCP or Guard. You learn zone control, door timing, and how human stacks panic when a choke becomes unsafe.
Read alongside Playable SCPs, Facility Map, and How to Contain SCPs. Universal anomaly habits are covered in How to Play as SCP.
Why 457 works
457 wins by making popular doors expensive. Guards who stack three deep get punished. Teams that space correctly can kite you—so your job is to threaten the spaces they want, not to chase endlessly into open crossfires.
Think of fire as a tax on rotation. Every second humans spend finding another route is a second other SCPs can pick flanks.
Playing SCP-457
Claim a choke
Pick a door cluster that Guards must use to rotate between wings. Hold presence there until they spend time finding another route. Do not overextend into spawn staging where guns spawn clean.
Split attention
When SCP-096 or SCP-966 creates noise elsewhere, push your choke harder. Do not both fight on the same tile unless you intentionally overlap.
Respect MTF timing
Once Mobile Task Force kits are up, your free chokes become riskier. Relocate, feint a second door, and force them to clear two threats. Study MTF Guide so you recognize escalation audio and routes.
Beginner-friendly habits
- Hold space; stop sprinting after every Guard.
- Leave a fight when three guns already have angles.
- Practice exiting through a second door so you never die in a dead-end burn.
Guard counterplay
- Spread in chokes; do not door-stack three deep.
- Kite through open junctions and force 457 to overextend.
- Save burst for moments when the burn entity commits into a crossfire.
- Assign one caller to track whether 457 still owns the original door.
How to Play Guard and How to Contain SCPs expand these drills. Pair them with Controls if mobile ability buttons make kite timing feel awkward.
Map fit and bad fights
Good: clustered doors, narrow connectors, panic rooms after another SCP kill.
Bad: wide courtyards, long hallways with clean sightlines for MTF, and tunnels where SCP-106 already owns the fight and you are just stacking bodies on one tile.
Synergy and tier notes
457 pairs well with stealth and attrition SCPs because it forces humans to take longer paths. Community SCP Tier List takes often call it a strong learning pick even when not S-tier in tryhard pubs. Recheck after Patch Notes—fire spread boundaries have been tuned before.
Practice route
- Two rounds holding one choke only.
- One round where you never chase more than one hallway past the door.
- One round reviewing deaths: greed chase vs fair crossfire.
If friends ask what you should queue, open Role Picker. Redeem Codes when active before long practice nights.

Match scripts you can copy
As SCP-457
- Claim one door cluster that Guards actually need.
- Hold presence until they burn time finding a second route.
- Leave if three clean angles appear—reset to the next choke.
- Push harder only when SCP-966 or SCP-096 already owns attention.
- After MTF spawns, feint two doors so the finisher kit cannot clear you for free.
As Guard versus 457
- Never door-stack three deep on a burning choke.
- Assign a caller who tracks whether 457 still owns the original door.
- Kite into open junctions and dump magazines only on a commit.
- Rotate as a pair so 106 or 966 cannot punish the peel you made to avoid fire.
- Ask MTF to break the zone once, not to chase endless hallways.
Run this script for two rounds before you swap kits. Zone control learned on 457 transfers to every other anomaly and makes How to Play Guard advice easier to apply. Keep an eye on Updates when fire boundaries change.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is SCP-457 good for beginners?
Yes. Zone control and door timing transfer to almost every other anomaly and make Guard play easier to understand later.
How do Guards beat SCP-457?
Space out in chokes, kite through open junctions, and burst only when 457 commits into a crossfire.
Should I chase every Guard as SCP-457?
No. Holding the door they need usually wins more than endless sprints into open sightlines.
